The Salt Lake City Public Library is hosting an event to bring the community together to celebrate our beloved Sprague Library. As many of you know, Sugar House experienced significant rainfall on July 26th, resulting in over 2 inches of rain in 40 minutes. Unfortunately, Sprague Library was flooded with over 5.5 feet of water, resulting in significant damage to inventory and the building.
But though Sprague may be down at the moment, it’s certainly not out! We hope you can join us on Thursday, August 24 from 5:00-8:00pm at Sprague Library for a bite to eat, make some noise with the DrumBus, enjoy some tunes from local musicians, express yourself creatively through crafting activities, and hear from community leaders on the ongoing clean-up efforts. A preliminary agenda is below:
5:00-6:00: DrumBus (community drumming) and food
6:00-6:15: Official Remarks
- Cherie Kofoed and Mary Maloney (Sprague Branch Managers, current and former)
- Peter Bromberg and Debbie Downs (Library Director and President of the Friends of the Library)
- Lisa Adams (District 7 Council Member)
- Mayor Biskupski
6:15 – 8:00: Live music from local artists.
