Committee reports
Judi Short reported for the Land Use and Zoning committee. The following resolution was adopted:
1.) Throughout all the meetings and workshops and Open Houses, it seems pretty clear that there is overwhelming support to bring the Sugar House Streetcar up to Highland Drive, Alignment 2A.
2.) Most people want to see the Streetcar extend into a streetcar network that is citywide. (We know that SLC is working on a long-range plan) Alignment 2B
3.) Most people want the Streetcar to get to the center of Sugar House (21st South and 11th East), because then we can connect to the greater system in the future. It also means that the Streetcar will be able to serve all of the businesses in the Sugar House Business District. Alignment 2B.
Therefore, I move that the Sugar House Community Council support the Locally Preferred Alternatives 2A and 2B. We will study the issues again when the city is ready to decide on the alignment of 2C. We would like to see special care to energize the plaza and take minimal amount of space with the street car.
Sally Barraclough reported for the Parks, Open Space, and Trails committee.
Larry Migliaccio reported for the Transportation committee.
Amy Barry reported for the Sustainability committee.
Cabot Nelson reported for the Web and Internet committee. The SHCC spent $12.00 to renew the domain name “sugarhousecouncil.org”.
