Parks and Trails Update:
Salt Lake County is holding a ribbon-cutting for the whole Parley’s Trail on October 17th. Place and time is yet to be determined. You can take a virtual ride by watching this video. It takes about 12 minutes – and a Dramamine!

The funding is in place and bids have gone out for construction of the Sego Lily, which will be a beautiful sculpture at the east entrance of Hidden Hollow. Environmental architect and designer Patricia Johanson has been commissioned to do the work. Construction is slated to start in October!
City Council Candidate Debate, October 5th:
In collaboration with our neighbors to the north, we are holding a debate with District 5 and District 7 candidates on October 5th at the Gore Auditorium on the Westminster Campus. A meet and greet is slated to begin at 6:30 pm and the debate is from 7:00-8:30 pm. Questions can be submitted in advance at d5d7debate@gmail.com. District 5 candidates are Erin Mendenhall and George Chapman. District 7 candidates are Amy Fowler and Abe Smith. Come hear the candidates talk about the important issues facing our neighborhoods.

Sign Ordinance:
Thanks to Judi Short, the sign ordinance in Salt Lake City is currently being changed and the new costume shop owners will be allowed to take the sign down, refurbish it and put it back on the building.
Location of the next SHCC meeting:
Legacy Village is kind enough to host us again in October. We will be meeting on October 4th from 7-9 pm on the 5th floor in the Fairmont Room. The address for Legacy Village is 1212 East Wilmington Ave. There is ample parking in the parking garage. Thank you for being understanding and flexible .
Farewell:
Because of school schedule and work, we are saying goodbye to Teddy Anderson as a trustee. We would like to thank her for her time and dedication to the Sugar House Community Council.
