Sugar Alley – Lowe Development

  • Location: 2200 S. Highland Drive.
  • Start date: Fall 2020.
  •  Est. completion: Spring 2025.
  • Project description: Mixed use residential.
  • Update: Re-construction continues on site as the work is now focusing on the interior of the building. The re-build is expected to be completed by early spring 2025. This will be a five-story building containing 200 luxury apartments with the ground floor dedicated to retail, including restaurants and possibly a bike shop. Interior work is continuing on the Urban Hill & Hill’s Kitchen restaurant spaces on the northeast side of the building. Curb and gutter and cut-back parking has been restored across the front of the property.

    Alta Terra (Former 24 Hour Fitness)

  • Location: Ashton Ave./1100 E.
  • Start Date: June 2022.
  • Est. Completion: Spring 2026.
  • Project description: Residential (Approx. 340 units)
  • Update: Framing on the south portion of the project is completed and brick has been put in place on the lower half. One way traffic on Ashton and pedestrian access was restored October 1st. Work will continue November 4th on the installation of a large water distillation tank to be installed at the entry to the Fairmont Dog Park parking lot and will necessitate the closure of the entry to that parking lot for approximately two more weeks. Parking will remain available along the park frontage on 1100 East. 2 Hour Parking signs have been installed at the east end of Fairmont Park as well as “No Construction Parking” signs to discourage all-day parking by construction workers and are now placed on the east end of Ashton Ave.

Highland Drive/1100 E. Re-Construction Project (Phase II)

  • Location: 1100 East from 2100 South to 1700 South.
  • Start Date: January 2, 2024.
  • Est. Completion: November 15, 2024.
  • Project Description: Reconstruction of the roadway and storm drains, with added bike lane infrastructure and improved crosswalks and ADA access.
  • Update: Two-way traffic has been restored to 1100 East, north of 2100 South to Ramona. Traffic is currently restricted to one-way, southbound, between Ramona and 1700 South. Some concrete work on manholes and intersections will continue with some intermittent traffic flagging.  Landscaping replacements are now being completed along Highland Drive south of 2100 S.

      2100 South Storm Drain Clean Out

  • Location: 2100 South/1700 East- 2100 South/2200 East.
  • Start Date: Early October 2024.
  • Est. Completion: November 15, 2024.
  • Project Description: Clean out debris accumulated in storm drains from sewer project
  • Update: First phase at 2200 East has been completed and second phase at 1900 East is underway.  Two-way traffic continues but restricted to one lane in each direction through this area.

 1100 East Improvement Project

  • Location: 1300 South-900 South/1100 East.
  • Start Date: March ’24.
  • Est. Completion: October ’24.
  • Project Description: Improving curb & gutter, storm drainage, crosswalks, and road re-paving.
  • Update:  The roadway work has been completed. Some concrete and landscape replacement remains and the project appears to be on target for completion by end of October

2100 South Road Re-construction Project

  • Location: 2100 South, 700 East-1300 East.
  • Start Date: Early March. 2024
  • Est. Completion: Mid-to late 2025.
  • Project Description: Installing updated water and sewer lines and re-building long worn-out roadway, improving pedestriancrossing, and traffic calming. 
  • Update: Roadway and waterline construction activity remains active between 1100 East and 700 East, north side of the road. The final phase of work is now underway on the segment between 1100-1300 East. Paving has been completed on both the north and south sides of the street. Some concrete work remains around manholes and driveways, requiring some lane restrictions, however, the roadway should be fully opened by early November.
