November 2016 Chair Report

My name is Landon Clark and I had the privilege of being elected the new Chair of the Sugar House Community Council in October.  I grew up in North Salt Lake and graduated from the University of Utah- I am a die-hard Utes fan.  My wife and I moved away to Rochester, Minnesota for a few years for school and were thrilled to move to the Sugar House area in 2002.

While we have always loved living in Utah, we have found Sugar House to be a breath of fresh air!  Walkable neighborhoods (now filled with great friends), good schools, lots of restaurants, Sugar House Park, easy mountain access…what’s not to like?   We now consider ourselves ‘lifers’ and hope to never leave.

We aren’t alone- lots of people are choosing to live here and start businesses here.  With growth comes some frustration…traffic, parking, noise, congestion…I get it.   Our challenge is to keep Sugar House uniquely awesome while encouraging appropriate growth and the infrastructure to support that growth.

To get there, we need everyone’s voices to be heard.  We hold open meetings and encourage anyone interested to attend. We need to benefit from all of the expertise you wonderful people bring to the table.  I look forward to working with you and hearing your ideas.
