Homeless Shelter Zoning Amendment

Homeless Shelter Zoning Amendment

UPDATE 3/24/2017 The Planning Commission recommended approval and encouraged the City Council to increase neighborhood representation on the proposed “Neighborhood Coordinating Council” (NCC), which is part of the draft ordinance. The City Council must also review the proposal, and hold a public hearing, before making the final decision. The date for the City Council vote is unscheduled at this time.

UPDATE 3/1/2017 This item will next go to the planning commission. This issue has been scheduled for Wednesday, March 22, 2017 agenda.

The city has notified the SHCC that they are seeking to create conditions for any homeless resource center located in Salt Lake City. This zoning text amendment has nothing to do with any specific site selection or any ultimate zoning change for a specific site. This ONLY is addressing conditions that would be placed on a homeless resource center regardless of where it is located.

Please take a moment to read the document below and make comments regarding conditions you think appropriate. This is the only chance any community input will be gathered for this so it is important that we participate in an effective manner.
