September 2017 Chair Report

News from the Sugar House Community Council:

I would like to thank everybody who helped make our version of Night Out Against Crime a great night!  Thanks to the Boys and Girls Club, Fairmont Aquatic, Westminster College, Bike Collective, Sugar House Chamber, Music Garage, Salt Lake City Fire and Salt Lake City Police.   If I forgot anybody I apologize now.  Also thank you to everybody who attended the event.  We are already in the planning stages for next year so save the date for August 7th, 2018.

Primary Election Results:

After a hard fought District 7 City Council race we are down to two. Congratulations to Abe Smith and Amy Fowler for moving on to the general election November 7th, 2017.   On October 5th we will be hosting a debate/question and answer forum with these two candidates along with the two District 5 candidates. Look for more information on our website for time and location.

Location of the next SHCC meeting:

Because of the unfortunate flooding at Sprague Library we are currently considered a mobile community council. Our last meeting was held at Westminster on the Draw but due to some scheduling conflicts we are going to be at a new location this month.   Legacy Village has agreed to host us on September 6th from 7-9 pm.   We will be on the 5th floor in the Fairmont Room.  The address for Legacy Village is 1212 East Wilmington Ave.  Yes Wilmington Ave. has been repaved so your cars are safe.  There is ample parking in the parking garage.   Thank you for being understanding and flexible with us.
