SUGAR HOUSE COMMUNITY COUNCIL BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
Meeting Minutes – September 5, 2012
The regular meeting of the Sugar House Community Council was held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at 7:00pm, at the Sprague Library. Trustees in attendance were Laurie Bray, Annalisa Holcombe, Sally Barraclough, Dave Mulder, Joedy Lister, Amy Barry, Judi Short, Cabot Nelson, Christopher Thomas, Rawlins Young, Benny Keele, Larry Migliaccio, and Sarah Carlson. Christopher Thomas served as chair and Cabot Nelson as secretary. The trustees noted as excused were Ruth Price and Michael G. Kavanagh.
Call to order at 6:00pm. Robin Bastar gave his treasurer report.

Police and Fire reports
Det. Tyler Boelter, SLPD, gave a report on area crime.
Committee Reports
Judi Short reported for the Land Use and Zoning committee.
Sally Barraclough for the Parks, Open Space, and Trails committee. We moved to call for the SLC police department to increase its presence in Fairmont Park. This motion passed unanimously on a voice vote.
Larry Migliaccio reported for the Transportation committee.
Police and Fire reports, continued
Capt. Chris Milne, SLCFD, gave a report about Fire Station #3.
Community groups and projects
Larry Migliaccio reported on the streetcar planning and construction update.
Annalisa Holcombe reported on the SH Merchants Association.
Candidates Speeches
Benny Keele introduced the following candidates in the election for board leadership: Cabot Nelson for secretary; Joedy Lister, Scott Kisling, Judi Short, and Amy Barry for the three vice chair positions; and Christopher Thomas for chair.
Special presentations
Ann Ober presented the city’s plans to accommodate off-leash dogs.
Soren Simonsen presented plans for three townhouse at 2442 South 900 East.
Alexa “Lexie” Banks presented Westminster College’s “Paint the Pavement” project.
Deputy Director of Public Utilities Tom Ward and Project Manager Bernard Mo of the SLC Public Utilities reviewed the utility projects happening in Sugar House.
Community and City Presentations
SLC Councilmember Soren Simonsen gave updates on various actions and projects from the SLC Council.
For the business spotlight, Larry Migliaccio introduced Jennifer Holmstead, general manager of Got Beauty located at 900 East 2100 South.
Dolly Rauh reported on library events.
Shawn McDonough gave a report for the Mayor’s Office.
Secretary Report
The minutes of the August meeting were approved by a voice vote.
Cabot Nelson gave his secretary report.
