15 Jul Amendments to Chapter 21A.59 Design Review
The Planning Commission has asked the city for a text amendment to remove design review standard 21A.59.050.D.2. which speaks to building modulation because they believe the standard does not produce high-quality building design. In addition, staff is proposing amendments that would clarify when existing standards apply and ensure the language meets the standard’s intent. New standards have been added and other standards required elsewhere have been deleted from the Design Review chapter.
I’m told this introductory language is to clean up some sections of 21A.59 that are in conflict with each other or repetitious. And things have been added from another section of the code, or taken out because they appear elsewhere.
Eventually, the city will be consolidating its many different codes into a much smaller number, to make it easier to follow.
Here is the Planning Commission Briefing Staff Report.
