SHCC LUZ REPORT 2025 SEPT

On Monday August 18, the SHCC Land Use Committee met at Highland High, and had a presentation about the Sugar House Hotel 2111 S 1300 East.  We had 85 people sign in.  If you go to the website you will find links to the plans, the slides, and the public comment period where the participants asked questions, and the petitioners answered questions.  Many comments have come in using the comment form on this page, and also emails direct to Judi or Landon.  All those comments will be sent to planning, along with the SHCC Letter.  We know this won’t be on the Planning Commission agenda until at least October.

Comments already submitted will inform the letter we write, but you can still send in comments using the form on our web site up until the Planning Commission meeting. The Planning Commission will receive all comments.

Our next LUZ meeting is September 15 at 6 p.m. at Sprague Library.  We have an interesting petition Salt Lake Wildand Urban Interface Fire Code. I will get this posted soon. It has to do with building materials fence materials, defensible space and landscaping materials that may not be allowed under this ordinance. I have a map, but need to get a detailed map where we can see exactly which sections they are talking about.  There are some areas in Sugar House that are affected, such as Sugar House Park.

AND THE GOOD NEWS! The streets are nearly finished! The 2100 South project has been underway for about 18 months. In that time they have replaced both the sewer and water mains, as well as all connections to adjacent businesses and residents, reconstructed the roadway and improved sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and landscaping. The project is scheduled to reopen the 900 E-1100 E section to two-way traffic this Saturday. They are on schedule for project completion later this fall.

More information is available here. The project team also sends out regular project updates via email. You can sign up.
