SH LUZ Report 2016 December

SH LUZ Report 2016 December

At the December 9 meeting of the Land Use and Zoning Committee, we reviewed the 21 and 21 Small Area Plan.  Those in attendance were Anthony Wright Travis Hopkins, Will Kocher, Susan Koelliker, Josalyn Bates, George Chapman, Lucy Haws, Sue Ann Jones, Sheila O’Driscoll, Milton Brazelton, Patsy McNamara, Soren Simonson, Joedy Lister, Judi Short, Lynn Schwarz, Sally Barraclough, Lisa Adams, Jason Smurthwaite, John Anderson.

We received a brief overview of the 21 and 21 Small Area Plan, which has been in the works since September 2014. Many questions were raised, and answers given.  The plan looks like it has answered many people’s concerns, there were not a lot of people at our meeting to speak against this or ask questions.  This will be on the SHCC agenda January 4, and at the Planning Commission in January 25, or maybe February.
The January 4 meeting of SHCC will have a presentation of the 21 and 21 Small Area Plan, and a conversation about the new Homeless Resource Center.
Westport Properties, who bought the Shopko parcel in the Sugar House Center, is trying to figure out what to do with the parcel after Shopko closes, and are asking our opinion.  If you go to www.sugarhousehello.com and answer the questionnaire and give them your email address, you will be kept informed about the planning for this area.
On January 9, at 6 p.m., the Open Space, Transportation, and Land Use Committees of the Sugar House Community Council will hold a joint meeting to talk about the Salt Lake city Transportation Master Plan.
On January 11, the Planning Commission will review the request for Harmon’s to build a Fuel Station.  January 25 they will probably hear the 21 and 21 Small Area Plan, along with  the request for infill houses at 2594 South 800 East by Sego Homes.
