SH LUZ REPORT 2024 AUGUST

SH LUZ REPORT 2024 AUGUST

Salt Lake City has been working on its zone consolidation project.  They are consolidating 27 zones into nine.  You can read about them here. Sign up for the updates to keep up with the project, and don’t miss a deadline. So far, they have combined the MU-8 zone and the MU-11 zone. (This will also be helpful when reviewing the changes to the New Wells Fargo Proposal. The details of the combined zoning are contained in the story map).

If you are asked to answer survey questions, you can only do that if you live within the area being discussed.  On page 6 of the storymap, there is a way to call and speak with someone and get your questions answered.

Recently the MU-8 zone was approved and is primarily in the Ballpark neighborhood. It allows heights up to 85’. The MU-11 zone was also approved.  Four zoning districts were consolidated in the Fleet Block area. That zone will permit buildings up to 11 stories, which is about 125 feet. Both of these zones will apply to parts of the CSHBD zones.

Maps that apply can be found here.

There will be a Commercial and Mixed-use walking tour of Sugar House on September 9 at 6 p.m.  Meet at the Sego Lily Tunnel in Sugar House Park. We will walk to 2100 S Highland / McClelland / Sugarmont (MU3, MU5, MU6 and MU11)   Come see what the Zone consolidation could look like.

We have a Wells Fargo Update that came in on July 29.  The applicants have submitted a supplement to the petitions submitted in November 2023. Here is a link to the proposal. Please give us your comments.

THE AUGUST 19 SHCC LAND USE AND ZONING (LUZ) MEETING WILL BE DOWNTOWN AT THE CITY BUILDING 451 S STATE STREET FROM 6-8 P.M. IN ROOM 315.

We will discuss the new zone consolidation project, and what it might mean for our Sugar House Business District.  And, we may have some planners there to answer our questions. If time permits, we may e able to talk about the new Wells Fargo proposal in terms of what the MU15 zone might look like.

FAIRMONT HEIGHTS APARTMENTS

We will have a new Affordable Housing Senior Living Apartment Building in Sugar House.  This will be called the FAIRMONT HEIGHTS APARTMENTS.  They will replace the two red brick buildings on the corner of 1100 East and Simpson.  The address will be 2257 South 1100 East. Read about it here. Each building will be built separately.  One of the partners for this project is the Housing Authority of Salt Lake City and the Salt Lake City RDA. When the drawings are final, they will be on our website.
