Text Amendment – Window Requirements for New Construction in the city’s Local Historic Districts.

Mayor Mendenhall has initiated a petition directing the Salt Lake Planning Division to update the SLC Zoning Ordinance, and the Historic Residential and Multifamily/Historic Apartment Design Guidelines, to address the use of vinyl windows in new construction projects in the city’s local historic districts (LHDs).  Note this only applies to new construction in the local historic districts and to individually listed landmark sites throughout the city.

The following is a link to a map of the City’s local historic districts:

Here are the proposed guidelines.

Here are the proposed Standards for New Construction.

Here is the letter we have written, and the few comments we have prior to the Landmarks work session. This letter will be updated as we get more information and comments. This will go before the Landmarks Commission as a work session on November 2, and the Planning Commission at a later date. The final decision will be made by the City Council.

Please use the form below to provide your comments.  They will go with the SHCC  letter to both Commissions.
